To be successful you new birdhouse must be perfect. You will regret to operate a house with so many things that were not in place.

The humidity, the lighting, the temperature and those smell need careful evaluation.

Many new BH owners forget about those sound system. They are not aware of how those amplifiers were set to provide their sound.

Those wires were not properly connected to the right side of the amplifiers.

Those tweeters are not making any sound and many more.

Normally it will be very difficult to find those things that are not right unless you bring in a third party.

The best is to allow someone like Harry to take a good look at your BH and ask him to identify any flaws. He can even put his full recommendations on a piece of paper (report).

Most of the time he will be able to check for any potential set backs like room temperature, humidity, lighting, sound, wooden planks arrangements, entrance holes directions, tweeters arrangements, type of tweeters used, corner covers, direction of tweeters, volume of sound used, amplifiers connections, predators and etc.

Before you decide to write that big fat cheque to pay to the owner of any property for your BH project just put it on hold first.

You need to conduct the "Bird Call Test".

The test consist of playing the Duress Sound for at least 20 minutes close to the property site in the evening.

The best is to be able to count the number of birds responding to the test and perhaps look at the where they are coming from.

You might want to closely observe which direction are they circling above your car. Clockwise of anticlockwise.

Look at the size of those birds. Are they big or small.

You might want to engage Harry to do the test. He will be available at a very short notice.

This man made potion is a mixture of water, ammonia, fish oil and some other herbs.

It works well in Kemaman and Pantai Remis.

If after application there are thousands of birds at the entrance, you know very well that the aroma is working. If there is non, then it is not working.

Usually if you have just completed a new BH, the internal smell are thick with those cement, smoke from cigarette, smoke from welding of metal, smoke from soldering, wood smell and etc.

Frankly the house is not ready to receive those wild birds.

What you need to do is to mask those unfamiliar smell with a NEW BH Wall Aroma.

The item comes in 1.5 liter bottle and can be easily sprayed onto the wall about 50 cm below the nesting planks. It is recommended to spray direct onto those areas where cement plaster or cement brick bounding were laid. You need to cover these smell to the maximum.

Main function of this special powder is to produce the decomposing bird shit ammonia smell.

The best way to apply this powder is to repack them into smaller plastic containers and spread the container interlace with those fresh bird shit.

I normally put these powder close to the bird shit containers.

The most powerful and proven at many locations in Malaysia and Indonesia.

I normally pack this sound with the second generation birdcall gadget.

Once played those AF will flock above the test units and within a few short minutes you will see hundreds of them.

If you play this sound close to a successful BH all those birds in the area and from the BH will come out to look where the sound comes from.

As such you will be able to judge how many birds there are in the specific location.

Most of them will fly in a circle (you need to check either clockwise or anti clockwise) and some will chase each other.

After some time they will fly high above the tweeters until they are sure that there is nothing happening.

Cool Fan: BH Temperature Reducer

If your BH temperature is above 31*C, you need to bring it down by at least 1/2*C immediately.

This Cool Fan can be the best answer plus it is cheap and readily available.

The unit consisted of a box, water storage, a fan, mini water pump and a felt.

If you know how to properly apply this Cool Fan, your BH room temperature can be within the range that you wanted subject to how hot is the room.

Place this box at one corner of the room facing the favorite nesting areas. Connect the water supply and plug in those current supply using a digital timer.

Try to operate the Cool Fan using digital timer. Set the digital timer at about 3.30 pm and run for about one hour. After that let the fan stop for about 30 minutes. Run the fan again at 5.00 pm until 6.00pm. Stop for about 30 minutes. At 6.30pm let it run till 7.15pm then do not operate it until 8.15pm.

Remember the time between 7.15 till 8.15pm gap is to allow those swiftlet to come back and settle down. Try not to disturb them at that time frame.

Smart Degree: Temperature Sensor

If you need to control your BH room temperature to the optimum, this gadget is the most practical.

I called it as Smart Sensor.

It has two funtions. One is to increase the room temperature and the other is to reduce the room temperature.

You are provided with a switch to choose which type of regulator.

If you BH is alway on the high side you need to set the gadget to say 30*C and button set to downward temperature. Use can use the gadget to activate your humidifier or a cool fan.

If you BH is in a very cool area you might want to place a heater. The sensor can be set to the low tempoerature like 23*C and the button to be set so that it will move upward.

Very precise and accurate.

Aroma Dowser/Spray

A pump unit that comes with a set of nozzles, pump box and high pressure tube.

Basically this unit can be deployed as your aroma spray pump.

You mount the unit to your BH wall closed to an electrical plug. Place a timer and connect the unit to the digital timer.

Connect the nozzles to the pressure tube and lock the nozzle onto the BH wall. You need only about 5 nozzles per floor.

Insert the suction inlet into your aroma container while the other will be the outlet to push the aroma to all your nozzles.

Upon activation the pump will suck the aroma from the container and push them to those nozzles. The pray action will make your BH fresh with aroma smell.

Caution: Try not to run the pump for not more then one minute a session. You can run the pump twice a day. One in the morning and one the late afternoon.

Corner Cover: Stainless Steel Plate

I consider this as the most proper as compared to wood corner covers.

Main advantage is it's thickness. The plate is about 1 mm thick.

If you place this plate properly at any of those corners, the birdnest built on this corner will look flat and the buyer will not be able to differentiate between a corner nest or flat area.

As such you are guaranteed to sell you nest as a full cup.

The plate is made of stainless steel and is about 10" by 6".

Humidity sensor: Hygrostat

How do you control your BH room humidity?

The best and the easiest is to hook your humidifier machine to this gadget called Hygrostat.

Basic function of this Hygrostat is to sense the room relative humidity. It comes with a sensor that can determine how humid your BH is.

If you set your humidity low at say 85%, the sensor will immediately activate the flow of electrical current to run your Humidifier(s).

Once the room humidity hit say 95% it will automatically stop the flow of those current.

Immediately your humidifier(s) will ceased operation.

In this way your BH humidity is alway between the lower and the maximum setting.

The time it takes to reactivate the humidifier will be dependent on how fast the room humidity drops to the lower setting.

If you want to extend the life of your humidifier, it is recommended that you shuts those ventilation holes and at the same time place a few water jars on the BH floor.

The hygrostat comes with a box, electrical plug, extension cable and a sensor.

When in use, please ensure that the sensor are not dirty with those bird shit or covered from the actual admosphere of the BH room.

Bazooka Birdcall Gadget (Medium Range)

This special equipment is said to be able to lure more birds to your BH roof top.

The best is to use the gadget to pull those birds flying above your neighbor's BH.

It can easily pull those birds about 500 meters to 800 meters.

It is made up of steel plate and when used the sound seem to give a bit of the resonance or echo.

The only setback is that it comes with four square tweeters located at the base of the instrument.

You need to open the base plate to check if any of the four are working properly.

If they are not you just replace the faulty one by unscrewing those two screws.

No doubt it is among the best and the echo sound makes the bird feel like being in a cave.

Very powerful and I am using the sound as my hexagonal birdcall sound.

The sound is very strong and it makes those birds crazy to your roof top.

I give this sound as : Batu Gajah. (Elephant Rock)

Batu Gajah is a town located in Perak. In English it mean The Elephant Rock.

I have tried in Bentong, Pahang and its effectiveness is proven.

The best method to use this sound is for your external or roof top sound.

You need to time the running of the sound a few minutes every hour. Say 20 minutes every hour. You need to coordinate the playing time with your entrance hole.

The best is to run the sound in conjunction with your entrance hole sound by setting the digital timer precisely.

Good example you may want to run this sound every hour from say 12noon till 5 pm.

Every hour your will run this sound for 20 minutes and when the sound is about to finish your time your entrance hole to take over for the rest of the 41 minutes. Note the 1 minutes is the overlapping time when they are about to change sound.
